Hi there! My name is Robin Poirer, and I’m the Director of Account Management at RecycleSmart, which means I lead account managers across the country. We are the team that builds long term relationships with clients, solving their tricky waste management problems and consulting to make their waste streams more efficient for all their sites. We find ways to continuously save money, increase diversion, and meet other waste management goals for our clients over time.

I am from the Interior of BC and I grew up in a community called Paul Lake outside of Kamloops. I moved to Vancouver to go to UBC when I was 18. I’ve also lived in Toronto, and in Lima, Peru. I have a Bachelor of Science (Biology) and MBA (Business Strategy & Sustainability) both from UBC. I am also an alumna of Manchester Business school, having spent an exchange term in the UK during my MBA.

Working with this team of interesting, friendly and smart people is rewarding every day.

Sustainability is something I have a lot of experience with! I worked for several years as an Account Manager with Ocean Wise’s sustainable seafood program. I used to advise chefs, retailers and seafood suppliers across Canada on how to source more sustainable seafood, and also led the marketing initiatives for Ontario and eastern Canada with the program. I’ve also worked in conservation and economic development, consulting with First Nations groups in the Great Bear Rainforest region of British Columbia.

Having worked at RecycleSmart for 5 months, my favourite part about working here is that this company is full of good people who work hard to make good things happen. Working with this team of interesting, friendly and smart people is rewarding every day.

Outside of work, I previously spent a lot of time travelling, learning Spanish, hiking, canoeing, and general adventuring to new places. Now that I have a 2-year-old, I spend a lot of time at the local playground, swimming, and easy hikes around the Lower Mainland, passing on my love for the outdoors and exploring to my daughter.
