Hi everyone, my name is Emma Hendry! I’m a reporting analyst at RecycleSmart and I focus on customer and internal reporting and managing RecycleSmart’s App. I’m passionate about data visualization and I love presenting data in way that brings value to our customers and internal team. I became interested in Sustainability during my time at UBC. I did some volunteering as a Zero Waste Ambassador to help students on campus sort their waste at events.
My favorite part about my career at RecycleSmart is that I’ve been able to develop skills that I didn’t even know existed.
I moved to Vancouver 7 years ago for university but I’m originally from the UK and I also lived in Australia and Singapore before moving to Canada. Moving to Vancouver was my first-time stepping foot in North America!
I studied Environmental Science at UBC and during my degree I did 16 months of internships. I had the opportunity to do some remote sensing work at an Engineering company in Singapore, work on some climate change adaptation guidelines at Engineers and Geoscientists BC and get an introduction to land remediation policy at the BC Ministry of Environment.
This is my first full time position since graduating 2 years ago, and RecycleSmart is very supportive of growth. My favorite part about my career at RecycleSmart is that I’ve been able to develop skills that I didn’t even know existed before I joined, such as building Business Intelligence dashboards and writing SQL queries. I’m constantly impressed and inspired by my colleagues who always have a positive attitude and give 100% even when things are hectic.
When I’m not at work, I love cooking (mostly because I love food) and going to Barre classes!
