RecycleSmart partners with Green Circle Ideas to provide convenient, cost effective, easy to implement PPE recovery and collection systems for Canadian businesses.
The pandemic is a battle on all fronts and preventing infection spread has massively increased the production of personal protective equipment (PPE). Since the end of 2019 we have seen more PPE waste contaminating our landfills, the ocean, and our environment than ever before. RecycleSmart’s CEO, Rob Duthie had some words to add to this, “Our reliance on personal protective equipment is clear during the COVID-19 pandemic, the missing link in the business recycling process was an easy, cost effective method to properly dispose of this unique waste item. With the Green Circle Ideas partnership RecycleSmart is taking a stand against PPE waste in Canada.”
Green Circle Salons is best known for creating the world’s first sustainable salon solution. Estimating that the beauty industry creates over 877 pounds of waste every minute, businesses send up to 95% of their waste to be recycled, repurposed or otherwise recovered. The PPE Recovery Initiative was created in 2020 to initially combat pandemic-related waste in the beauty industry – but like many Canadian businesses, Green Circle Ideas pivoted during the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic.
