RecycleSmart worked with the Central Alberta Co-op on their recycling programs for food stores at Red Deer Plaza, Deer Park and Lacombe, harnessing technology and industry expertise to decrease costs by 51% at the same time increasing the efficiency of the current waste and recycling compactors, and reducing greenhouse gases.

Phase 1

RecycleSmart installed smart compactor monitoring systems to all waste and recycling compactors.

Phase 2

RecycleSmart managed the RFP process to review best-in-class transporters and processing contracts, and changed all compactors to on-demand service levels to ensure compactor efficiency was being maximized. These changes had no negative operational effect at the store level and freed up additional time for store personnel by managing the process.
